Kidney Transplant

A kidney transplant is a treatment that takes a healthy kidney from one person and puts it into the body of the person whose kidneys have failed. The “new” kidney normally will start to work right away. The kidney can come from a person who has died (cadaver) or living person who has donated one of his or her kidneys. Not everyone with kidney disease can have a kidney transplant. If you want to know more, talk to your health care team.
